Break hearts to take part in Maurice’s latest Community Challenge in Borderlands 3 and earn a new Vault Hunter Head!
Broken Hearts Day is almost upon us, and Maurice the Saurian is still having a hard time figuring out why this arbitrary date seemingly plays such an important part in the courting rituals of humans across the Borderlands. Maurice needs help, and having learned enough about our species to know that we’re more likely to step up if properly incentivized, he’ll reward the entire Borderlands 3 community with a new Gray Matter Vault Hunter Head if our collective research is successful.
Starting now, Maurice is tasking the Borderlands 3 community with breaking 1,000,000 of the hearts that show up above enemies when the Broken Hearts Day event is activated, which can be toggled on via the main menu. Every heart you break will count towards the community total, and we’ll post occasional progress updates on the official Borderlands Twitter account.
Be warned that hearts take several forms and break in different ways: some will simply drop loot, while others will leave behind toxic clouds, create large fireballs, or even briefly turn enemies into allies. It’s no wonder that Maurice still feels he has much to learn about the human condition.
When the last of those 1,000,000 hearts required for Maurice’s research is broken, we’ll update this article with a SHiFT code that will grant the new Vault Hunter Head reward that can be equipped by all characters. You can redeem the revealed SHiFT code here on Borderlands.com, on the Gearbox SHiFT site, or via the in-game Social menu in Borderlands 3. Borderlands 3 and SHiFT account required to redeem. Each code may be redeemed once (1) per SHiFT account.
UPDATE: Nice work, Vault Hunters! Maurice may still find the abstract concept of heartbreak confusing, but the number of physical hearts you’ve obliterated pleases him greatly. Redeem the SHiFT code below then check your in-game mailbox for the Gray Matter Vault Hunter Head:
